I received this poem from Susie Marx, an IBO out of Texas. She is such a talented writer and I wanted to share it with you all. Thank you for living PURE, Susie.
MY TWO-WAY PRAYER

The
sound of a tiny bird chirps in the tree outside, hitting highlights above the whooshing
drone of the creek nearby – newly swollen with life-giving rains. How much more
sensitive to sound this morning, I am, after rising early to sing with the
choir. Tuning my ear to the voices of others and singing my own high soprano
over the solid bass & tenor notes. The timing of it all.
A tendency
to rush in places
To
boom out too loudly
Or
to lose breath entirely
At
the end of a difficult passage
I
sit forward in my chair
And
raise the level of my hearing
So
I am in harmony with the group
Yielding
here and leading there
Again
like the flow of the water
The
wind wrestles with the leaves
And
dies down again
Some
distant bells ring over the hill
It’s
another song, so faint
I become even more intent
on
the listening
And
now, as if in answer
A
chorus of chimes rings softly
In
the distance
Touching
the tiny hairs in my inner ear
There
is such amazing joy
In
the stillness of this moment
Other
gentle birds join in
with
the soloist who began
and
now they are singing together
I
am healing. I am validated. I am on the right path. I am seeking to be a servant
and praying for guidance and protection. I am broken open. I am called to care
for this vessel if I am to care for others. I am full. I am guided. I am a
daughter of the kingdom.
I
am the Great Spirit. I live in your heart. I will show you where to go and give
you the words to express the murmurs of your heart. I am awakening you. I am
always right here for you. I am listening. I hear you.
